Objective: • to familiriaze students with EU’s institutions considering the history of European integration; • to introduce the changes in the institutions of the EU across time; • to acquire knowledge on policy-making in the EU and the role of different institutions on the policy-making referring to various EU policies (e.g., EU’s environment policy, EU’s education policy); and • to familiriaze students specifically the recent institutional structure of the EU, specifially with the Lisbon Treaty.
Content: This course offers an introduction to the institutional structure of the EU considering the evolving nature of the EU and its institutions. The operation of the institutions and their role in policy-making will be explained through focusing on specific policies of the EU, such as environment policy of the EU. Moreover, EU-Turkey relations will be discussed while focusing on EU policies and the role of institutions on policy-making.
